Organic + Paid as One Motion: Running Social Media That Actually Drives Revenue
The most common mistake in social media marketing is treating organic and paid as separate functions, with separate teams, separate reports, separate budgets. The brands that win do the opposite — organic creates and tests, paid scales the winners. This is how our social team structures every account.
Step 1: A unified content backlog
Every piece of content goes into one backlog with a single naming convention — title, hook, channel, format. The backlog includes both organic-first content and paid-creative experiments. This eliminates the “we ran out of creative” problem that breaks most paid social accounts.
Step 2: Organic as a creative lab
Post 4–6 pieces per week organically. The goal isn’t reach — it’s signal. Save rate, share rate, comments-per-impression, and profile visits tell you which hooks resonate before you spend a single dollar on amplifying them.
Step 3: Promote the winners
Posts that exceed your channel benchmark on engagement get the boost button. Then graduate the best of those into proper paid campaigns from the paid media team with full audience targeting, conversion tracking and landing pages.
Step 4: Build audience pools systematically
Every paid social account needs four healthy audience pools: customer match, lookalikes from purchasers, video-view audiences, and engagement audiences. Refresh weekly. Most accounts we audit have stale audiences that haven’t been touched in months.
Step 5: Conversion measurement that survives iOS
Apple’s privacy changes broke most conversion tracking setups. Modern social attribution requires the Conversions API, server-side tagging, and a marketing-mix modelling approach for the channels privacy has obscured. Don’t trust last-click reports in 2026.
Step 6: Bring email + content into the loop
Social is the first touch. Email closes the loyalty loop. Content marketing provides the long-form assets that social points at. The three together is what turns ad spend into compounding equity.
